First Puppy Gate

I could use this space and time to type about serious stuff going on in the world and the long laundry list President Obama will have to tackle, but I've had more then enough of that for one day. So I'm instead going to focus on a puppy video plea that realy made my day today...

A Night I Will Remember Forever!!

Election Night
It was 11/4/08, my nerves were already on edge I hadn't slept a full 6 hours in two days. Earlier that morning I stood in line for about an hour before the sun came up. There I was 10:30 pm, laying on the floor, pretending to be doing some homework with my eyes glued to the television screen. In the middle of my jittery nervous crazyness and obsession with watching the poll numbers come in my mom calls. She didn't want anything but the usual; needing assistance with sending an email with an attachment. As I was walking her through the steps I could hear cheering coming from the TV. In my nervous excitment i went to the Tv to see what other state was just won...but...wait... I see 284 electoral votes.
"Mom am I seeing that right?!
"What are you talking about? Let me go to the TV."
"Mom he got more then the needed 270 electoral votes to win! HE WON! HE WON! OH MY GOD! HE WON!! AAAGGHHHH!! AAAAGGGHHH!! AAGGGGHHHH!!
Some where in between screaming for joy and sobbing I lost connection with my mom and dropped to my knees. All the donating, volunteering, waiting in line to vote, sign holding, informing, emailing, canvassing, rallying by countless supporters paid off. Every tear that fell felt like a realease of the last eight years of frustration.
It took me a while to get my thoughts together to figure out how I wanted to express what I was feeling, but no words can even come close and I'm not even sure I've fully processed the history that has just been made. It's like I'm dreaming.
I look forward to seeing Barack and Michelle Obama in the white house with those adorable little girls.
I've found a few videos that help put this historic event in context.

Politics of Change

I haven't dealt with topic to much. Better late then late then never. I've been a staunch Obama Supporter since last fall of 2007. Initially i thought it was going to be hard for me to chose between Obama and Clinton, but as the primaries dragged on it became clear. For my part I researched the voting records of both candidates and if neither of them came out with flying colors I had a third party and Rethuglican choice as a last resort. Obama for me was the only who's voting record matched his rhetoric on the trail. Another tool that I use, to judge the candidates by how they run their campaign. As the race ran on again the only candidate that came out on top was Obama. You gotta love candidate dubbed "No drama Obama". The icing on the cake is the fact that instead of spending time fear mongering and smearing he spoke mostly about the issues at hand. I never left a speech feeling angry and fearful, but hopeful for something better then what I had and I had the power to make that change.
Another thing that I truly love is the way they as a family love each other and show it. It's natural and radiates to everyone else around. Looking at them warms my heart.

The Master Plan...

Light Bulb Moment
"It is never too late to be what you might have been."
- George Eliot

Like a wise person once said, "If you don't plan, plan to fail". When it comes to making decesions, it depends on the situation. Somethings can be done right then and there, while others take time and a well thought out plan.
When it hit me that I'm about to embark on a new era instead of freaking out about everything I haven't done, I figured I would jot down the things I want to do as well as laying out a foundation for the next ten years, nstead of them circleing around in my head.
My plan was to do one of these postings every week but gettin my goals down, organized and well thought out took a bit longer then I thought, such as it is.

The Intro...

Hello my name is Imani…
It’s seems like I just turned 20 yesterday and here I am about to turn 30. I wanted to do something that would allow me to reflect and journal my experiences, what I’ve learned, the things I need to do going forward into my thirties.
There isn’t a special meaning behind choosing the time frame or the name. I just so happened to come up with my plan last week and in seven months I turn thirty. No spectacular act of genius.
I kept hearing about this blogging trend and I wanted to try it, so why not? This is my first blog, so it will seem a bit generic at first, until I can figure out how I want it to look and all the bells and whistles. So if you have any tips, tricks or blogging advice feel free to let me know :)
